A robber robbed an Asian woman's cell phone at a Brooklyn subway station

On Saturday, April 29, an Asian woman was robbed of her mobile phone at a subway station in the Bay Ridge area of Brooklyn, which has a large Chinese population. Police released a photo of the suspect on Wednesday, hoping to catch the robber with the help of the public.

According to the 68th Precinct of the city police, the incident occurred at about 3:50 p.m. on Saturday at the Bay Ridge Ave subway station. A 29-year-old Asian woman was standing on the platform of the northbound train R when she was approached by an unidentified man. He reached out and grabbed her Apple 12Max before fleeing the station.

Police described the robber as 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds, with a medium complexion, slim build and beard. He was wearing a black winter hat with a white Nike logo, a red hooded sweatshirt with a Jordan design on the front and black shorts with a white Nike logo on the left leg.

On Sunday, police released photos of the robber taken from subway surveillance video.With Saturday's subway robbery, there have been 27 robberies in the city's 68th precinct so far this year, up 80 percent from 15 at the same time last year, according to police figures.
