A teenager of Eastern European descent shot an 81-year-old Chinese woman in the eye with a water pistol at Main Street and Sanford Avenue in Flushing on Sunday evening. The victim said she was willing to forgive the teenager, but hoped he would not do something like this again. The police admonished the teenager and let him go.
According to the victim's daughter, surnamed Zheng, the teenager shot her mother in the eye with a water pistol while she was walking on the road. So they called the police. Several Chinese onlookers said they often saw the teenagers causing trouble near McDonald's on Main Street, annoying businesses and passers-by.
The teen's mother and sister came to the scene and demanded that the teen apologize to the victim, but the teen was too aggressive to apologize. The victim was exhausted and had to leave. Before leaving, she asked her granddaughter to tell the police that she did not intend to hold the teenager responsible, nor did she want him to be arrested, but hoped he would learn a lesson in the future and not do such harm to others.
The police admonished the teenager for his aggressive attitude, telling him to learn from his mistakes and learn to respect others.
